Training for goalkeepers Aged 13 to 16

In this age group, we continue to work on basic techniques, but the focus shifts toward important match-related elements.
This includes field positions, corners, high balls, player coaching, set pieces, build-up play, and transitioning between attack and defense.Well-prepared training is essential.
Creating a monthly plan with clear weekly activities helps provide structure and ensures the sessions are effective. Stepping onto the field unprepared is not an option, as players in this age group will notice it immediately, which negatively impacts their learning experience.
The training should be educational and conducted with increasing intensity, with variation playing an important role. However, quality remains more important than quantity; the goal is to improve players in a targeted way, not just to fill time with activities.
Finally, it is crucial to take into account the physical and mental changes in this age group.
Many players are in the midst of puberty and may go through growth spurts, which can affect their performance and capacity for training.
A flexible and empathetic approach is therefore essential.
